Products
we supply and sell

Burncrete also has in-house testing facilities and random tests are regularly carried out on the full range of products. Furthermore, this industry requires a comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 (specifically the Driven Machinery regulations), the South African Mine Health and Safety Act of 1996 and the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, and Burncrete is well versed in these.

Burncrete is the only company that sells a comprehensive range of equipment, and has become a one-stop shop. Occupational
Health and Safety Act
Burncrete is fully aware of the legal obligations arising from the South African Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 and the South African Mine Health and Safety Act of 1996 in so far as they relate to our products.
The principal obligations of suppliers are set out in Section 10 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Section 21 of the Mine Health and Safety Act, where it is clearly states that any person who designs, manufactures, imports, sells or supplies any article for use at work shall ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that the article is safe and without risks to health when properly used, and that it complies with all prescribed requirements.
Compliance Procedures
Burncrete’s standard procedures to ensure compliance with suppliers obligations are as follows:
- A sample from each batch is visually inspected when received to check conformity with the appropriate international standard.
- Mill certificates are obtained for all steel wire rope. Copies of these Mill certificates are supplied on request.
- Steel wire rope slings are batch tested (one in a batch of ten or part thereof) or individually if requested. Test certificates are supplied on request for steel wire rope slings. Serial numbers are supplied if requested.
- Chain blocks, lever blocks and electric chain hoists are tested individually and individual test certificates are supplied with each unit. These are supplied with serial numbers.
- Wire rope friction winches are tested individually and individual test certificates are supplied with each unit. These are supplied with serial numbers.
- Grade 80 chain slings are individually visually inspected. Compliance certificates are supplied on request for grade 80 chain slings. Serial numbers are supplied if requested.
- Compliance certificates are supplied on request for lifting equipment such as shackles, rope clamps, eyebolts, eyenuts, hooks, beam clamps, plate grabs, etc (other than commercial quality items). Where compliance certificates are issued, these are backed by manufacturers test certificates in our possession.
It is important to note that the above mentioned tests and inspections are carried out by us to ensure that our products comply with Section 10 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Section 21 of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
As we do not carry out inspections or load tests as envisaged by regulation 18, sub-regulations 5 and 6, of the Driven Machinery Regulations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, we are not required to be a LME nor have a certified LMI. However, we have a registered LMI and are in the process of becoming LME certified.
Our designated testers are Clement Sambo (who has been with the company since 1980) and Dave Collingwood (since 1998). These personnel are highly experienced in this work and their performance is regularly reviewed by senior management. Certificates are signed by senior management only.
